A BRIEF INTRODUCTION
There are 108 peaks above 7,000 meters in Pakistan. And potentially as many peaks in excess of 6,000 m. The peaks above 5,000 and 4,000 m have no count. Five of the world’s 14 highest independent peaks (8-thousanders) are in Pakistan (four of which lie in the surroundings of Concordia; the confluence of Baltoro Glacier and Godwin Austen Glacier).Most of Pakistan’s highest peaks lie in the Karakoram mountain range (which lies almost entirely in Pakistan’s Gilgit-Baltistan region and is considered to be part of the greater Himalayan range), but the Himalayan and Hindu Kushranges have several peaks above 7,000 m. The list is an incomplete list of Pakistan’s mountains.

Most of Pakistan’s highest mountains are situated in the Karakoram range (the highest of which is K2, ranked 2nd worldwide, 8611 m), some high mountains in the Himalayas (the highest of which is Nanga Parbat, ranked 9th worldwide, 8126 m) and Hindu Kush (the highest of which is Tirich Mir, globally ranked 33rd, 7708 m).
