Visa Requirements

Pakistan Visas

Pakistan Online Visa System is now open for the citizens of 191 Countries! Moreover, citizens from 50 Countries are eligible to apply for Visa on Arrival under Tourist Category, and citizens from 95 Countries are eligible to apply for Visa on Arrival under Business Category.

Issuance of visa is the prerogative of the Government of Pakistan, exercised through designated authorities. Applicants must plan travel only upon receipt of a valid visa.

Visit Visas

The Government of Pakistan grants different Visit Visas to eligible citizens of foreign countries.

A Tourist Visa allows the citizens of these countries to visit Pakistan for tourism purposes.

Application Type

You can apply for two types of visas online:

First Time (New): You can apply for a new visa if you do not possess a valid Pakistan visa.

Extension: You can apply for a visa extension if you possess a valid Pakistan visa and you are residing in Pakistan.

Single Entry for short duration less than 3 months (First Time entry).

Duration up to and greater than 6 months (Extension).

Citizens from these countries may be eligible for a Double Entry Tourist Visa.

 

 

A Tourist Visa can be extended for up to 6 months or more, subject to approval.

US nationals could avail Tourist 5 years multiple entry visa with maximum 3 months stay.

 

Processing Time

Issuance of Visa is the prerogative of the Government of Pakistan.

  • Entry (Up to 3 Months): 7-10 days (Working Days)
  • Extension (Up to 6 Months): 7-10 days (Working Days)
  • Extension (Greater than 6 Months): 4 Weeks (Working days)

  • Photograph size up to 350KB
  • Valid Credit Card/Debit Card for online payment of your application fee.

Attaching Documents in the Pakistan Online Visa System

When applying through the Pakistan Online Visa System, you will be required to upload supporting documents (e.g. passport, photograph).

Important Terms

Here is important terms listed below.

A

  • Applicant: The applicant is the person (or persons) applying for Pakistan Online Visa.

  • CNIC: Pakistan’s Computerized National Identity Card.
  • Complete application: An application that provides all information necessary for Visa Application processing, including all necessary supporting documents.

D

  • Dependent children: A child or stepchild, who has not turned 18 years of age, or, if aged 18 years or over, is a dependent. A dependent child must not have a partner or be engaged to be married.
  • Dual nationality: It is a person’s citizenship status, in which a person is concurrently regarded as a citizen of more than one state.
  • Deeni Madarris: educational institution, for Islamic studies
  • DCO: District Coordination Officer
  • DGIP: Directorate General of Immigration and Passport

  • Extension: You can extend your stay by applying for an extension of the relevant visa category.

F

  • FIA: Federal Investigation Agency

H

  • Housemaid: Domestic servant

I

  • Immediate family: Your partner and dependent children.
  • INGO: The registered International non-governmental organization in Pakistan.

J

  • Journalist: journalists, correspondents, or reporters representing overseas news organizations.

L

  • List of Prohibited areas: List of prohibited areas identified by the Government of Pakistan. See >Prohibited areas

M

  • Missionary: Person sent on a religious mission in Pakistan.

N

  • NEGATIVE list. The list of names of foreigners or entities developed by the Government of Pakistan to be avoided or distrusted.
  • NGO: Non-Governmental Organization. A registered non-profit organization that operates independently of any government, one whose purpose is to address a social or political issue.
  • NOC: No Objection Certificate, is a type of legal certificate issued by any agency, organization, and institute or, in certain cases, an individual.

P

  • Period of Stay: A foreigner may enter Pakistan at any time within the validity of the granted Visa. The period of stay will count from the date of his/her arrival. Stay will be governed by the residential permit issued by the foreigner registration office at the time of his/her registration and not by date of issuance of Visa.
  • Police Registration: All foreigners are exempted from registration with the Police except the nationals of the following list; as well as other foreign nationals who are directed by the immigration authorities to report to FRO for registration and a stamp is affixed to this effect, on their passports.
      • Bangladesh
      • Bhutan
      • India
      • Israel
      • Nigeria
      • Palestine Liberation Organization
      • Somalia

However, nationals in the managerial category, who are issued a Work Permit/Visa from these countries will be exempted from Police registration except Indians and foreigners of Indian origin.

  • POC: Pakistan Origin Card. It’s the National Identity document issued to foreigners with Pakistan Origin

  • Transit Visa: a visa allowing its holder to pass through a country only, not to stay there.
  • Tabligh: a religious gathering or congregation

  • Visa: Permission to travel to, to enter, and/or to remain in Pakistan for a period of time.
  • Visa on Arrival: The visa that is provided on Arrival to Pakistan, through immigration counters in Pakistan or at Pakistani Borders.
  • Visa Validity: The Validity of a visa is the period during which it can be used. All visas are valid for entry into Pakistan for 6 months from the date of issue and if the visa has not been utilized during this period, it would become invalid.

Who can apply through Pakistan Online Visa System?

Only Nationals of the 191 Countries who are residing in the same countries can apply for the Pakistani Visa through Pakistan Online Visa System. Applicants will be called for an interview if required at the Pakistan Missions Abroad in the same country.

How to select Visa Category?

There are different Visa Categories under which the applicant can apply for a Pakistani Visa. All Visa Categories are displayed at https://visa.nadra.gov.pk/visa-categories– Please read through the description of categories carefully before applying to make sure that you are eligible.

How to pay the fee?

The payment of Fee is integrated with the application – Applicant can pay via a Master Card or Visa card. The applicant can also calculate the fee against the application submitted by using the Fee Calculator available on the website https://visa.nadra.gov.pk/fee-structure/

What is Visa on Arrival?

The applicants can apply under two categories for Visa on Arrival:

Visa on Arrival (Tourist)

  • Applicant must apply to submit their intent to travel 48-72 Hours Prior to Travelling
  • Applicants can apply by following the Application Guide available at https://visa.nadra.gov.pk/downloads/application_guide.pdf
  • Required Documents:
    • Photograph
    • Passport
    • Invitation Letter by the sponsor or hotel booking details in case of individual tourist
    • Invitation Letter in case of the group by the tour operator designated by the department of tourist services
  • Upon submitting the Application, the applicant will receive Electronic Travel Authorization on the email address provided by him within 48-72 Hours if the application is approved
  • Using the Electronic Travel Authorization, the Applicant can travel to Pakistan and can seek Visa on Arrival from the FIA Counter

Visa on Arrival (Business)

  • Applicant must apply to submit their intent to travel 48-72 Hours Prior to Travelling
  • Applicants can apply by following the Application Guide https://visa.nadra.gov.pk/downloads/application_guide.pdf
  • Required Documents:
    • Photograph
    • Passport
    • Proof of registration of company which is extending invitation (SECP/ Chamber of Commerce Certificate)
    • Any of the following:
      • Recommendation letter from CC&I of a respective foreign country
      • Invitation letter from business organization duly recommended by concerned trade organization in Pakistan
      • Recommendation letter by the honorary investment counselor of BOI/Commercial Attaché
  • Upon submitting the Application, the applicant will receive Electronic Travel Authorization on the email address provided by him within 48-72 Hours if the application is approved
  • Using the Electronic Travel Authorization, the Applicant can travel to Pakistan and can seek Visa on Arrival from the FIA Counter

Which Travel Documents are generated via the Pakistan Online Visa System?

If the application of the applicant is approved then the applicant receives the following two travel documents generated via the Pakistan Online Visa System using which the applicant can travel to Pakistan:

  • Visa Grant Notice: This document is essentially the Visa granted against your application
  • Electronic Authorization to Travel (ETA): This document (Emailed to the applicant) is generated against applications made under the Visa On Arrival categories. Electronic Authorization to Travel (ETA) is NOT the Visa – It merely Authorizes the Applicant to travel to Pakistan and Seek Pakistani Visa on Arrival at the Visa On Arrival Counter of FIA

 

Why is the applicant providing details of the accompanying members?

Details of accompanying members provided by the applicant in the application are sought for general processing protocols. Please Note that Information provided of any accompanying member(s) is NOT to be considered as visa application of that particular member and will NOT result in the issuance of the visa in their favor – Each accompanying member(s) has to submit their own separate application.

Can an applicant make multiple applications through Pakistan Online Visa System?

An applicant can make a single application on an individual passport at a time – However, through the application portal, multiple applications can be made for different individuals.
