In Gilgit Baltistan the autumn season is filled with beautiful autumn colors, making it a stunning time of the year. Colors such as gold, yellow, red and brown are reminiscent of autumn. Gold, however, is the color most often associated with this season.

These golden and red tree shadows are reflected on the Hunza River in their overall effect. The waters of the river are a beautiful blue and green color, enhancing the autumn scene. In this photograph, it’s difficult to tell by looking if the picture is real or not.

October is also a month that is full of different fruits. Apricots, berries, apples, peaches and pears are all ripening at this time of year. It burst into layers of fruit when it burst out of the orchid.

Ghizer Valley

There is a great deal of fruit growing in this region, such as apples, apricots, and grapes. Koyo Zom (6,871 m) lies along the border of Ghizer and Chitral and is the highest point in Ghizer. By way of Ishkoman/Darkut Yasin (which can be accessed via Shandur Pass), one may reach Tajikistan via Qurumber Pass. Ghizer valley sits between the HinduKush range and the Karakoram range, two of the most famous mountain ranges in the world.

Gojal Valley

Gojal valley lies to the north of Gilgit, in the province of Gilgit. The Gorjal valley sits on the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan, close to the Chinese border. This is the largest tehsil of Gilgit Baltistan and is located in the southern part of the country. Located in the northwest of Afghanistan, Gojal shares its borders with Hunza and China.

Located about 2 kilometers north of Ghulkin, Borith Lake is a salt water lake in a small hollow located at an elevation of 2,500 meters in the Gojal Valley. A 2 km jeep route connects Hussaini village with Ghulkin village.

The majestic Batura Glacier (57km long) lies in the Gojal, just north of Batura (7,795m) and Passu (7,500m). On the lower portions, there are a few summer settlements and pastures with sheep, goats, cows, and yaks. They are dotted with roses and juniper trees.

Hopper Valley

Bualtar Glacier bends in the direction of Hopar Valley, creating a natural bowl surrounded by numerous villages. Barpu Glacier joins the white Bualtar opposite Hopar. The hoper valley is covered by glaciers on three sides.

The Nagar Valley’s town, Nagar Khas, is about 10 km away. Hopar is the most beautiful valley in district Nagar. Hopar is located near district Nagar. Spantik (Hopper) and Hopar (Hopar) glaciers are in Hopar Valley.

Bualtar Glacier bends around Hopar Valley, a cluster of villages. The white Bualtar and the Barpu Glacier meet opposite Hopar. Hoper glacier covers three sides of Hoper valley between it and Bawalter peak, and this glacier is known as one of the fastest moving in the world.

The roads connecting Nagar proper to the rest house run through a valley that adds to the beauty of the hoppers’ bowl-shaped design. Hoper valley is far from Gilgit’s main city, but it is very charming and a destination for tourists, and this land has ancient history.

Ruins of ancient settlements and kingdoms are still visible. Golden peak is famous for it’s high degree of altitude. Bawalter peak comes from the Hoper Glacier. Spantic peak is from the Mier Glacier.

Nagar Valley

The Nagar valley is one of the most spectacular in northern Pakistan. A prince country and a common-law country, Nagar and Hunza are separated by the Hunza River. There is a longstanding tradition, among these two countries, of looting caravans that are heading to China.

In the years since, Nagar has been separated into two main areas, namely Nagar 1 and Nagar 2. For those who seek adventure, there can only be one thing to say: The valley is a treasure trove of precious stones such as rubies, topazes, emeralds, and aquamarines. Moreover, if you intend to visit Nagar, make sure you visit Rakaposhi Viewpoint, which is located on top of a hill.

Yasin Valley

Visit Yasin Valley during autumn for the best weather. However, outside of this time you will also have the opportunity to face harsh weather conditions and cold weather. During this visit in the middle of autumn, this valley was full of golden yellow and topped with snow-capped mountains.

In spite of the cold temperatures at night, the weather during the daytime was very pleasant. Not only that, but you will also be able to enjoy the fruits and fishing over there during that time.

Astore Valley

In Pakistan, there is a district called Astore, which is part of the Gilgit-Baltistan region. In the northern area of Pakistan, Astore is located in a valley that has a length of 120 km, while its surface area consists of 5 thousand square kilometers.

It shares a border with Gilgit-Baltistan. The population of Astore is in the middle of the scale.
As you can see in the picture above, the Astore Valley is one of the most beautiful valleys in the region, with many lakes and grazing lands still intact. The Astore valley lies between Gilgit and Hunza and is therefore a long way from both places. Visitors do not have access to such eating and sleeping establishments in the Astore valley.

The road condition between Astore and Deosai Plain however is unacceptable, and therefore, not recommended for vehicles. From Astore to Deosai Plain to Skardu, there are only four-by-four jeeps that can pass through. However, it must be noted that Astore is a beautiful tourist destination that can be found in Gilgit Baltistan, in the north of Pakistan.

Gulmit Upper Hunza Valley

Hunza Valley is principally known for Gulmit, which is the location of its headquarters. Gulmit, one of the most popular villages in Hunza Valley, serves as the gateway to five more valleys such as Chapursan Valley, Shimshal Valley, and Boibar Valley. Khunjerab Valley and Misgar Valley are also popular valleys.

Gulmit is surrounded by beautiful mountains. To the north is Mount Tupopdan, while to the south is Mount Gawush, both renowned for their beauty. This valley looks amazing in the autumn season, and it looks even more like heaven to the visitors. A trespass of ancient civilizations exists in the valley of Gulmit, showcasing a fort that was built about 200 years ago to fend off outside invaders.

Approximately 140 kilometers away from Gilgit and 45 kilometers from Karimabad Hunza Valley, and 136 kilometers from the famous Khunjerab pass on the border with China is this spectacular valley. The explorers and nature enthusiasts should not miss out on this point.

Passu Upper Hunza Valley

Passu is one of Pakistan’s most recognizable sights. It is a work of art that is a natural example of a religious structure. It’s no longer possible to overnight in Passu village, but the cones can still be seen from a distance, starting from Gulmit village, even though it’s no longer possible. It is on the Karakoram Highway that the most iconic view of the Cathedral can be seen, located about an hour’s drive from Gilgit City.

In the Gilgit Baltistan province of Gilgit-Baltistan, there is a mountain called Passu cones. A 3 km track has been built so that tourists will be able to reach the mountain, with the assistance of the government. The track was inaugurated during an event full of color.

Shimshal Valley

It takes about four hours from Hunza to get to Shimshal Valley. A suspension bridge crosses the Hunza River at the Batura Glacier, and then the road enters a narrow gorge. The Pamir Pass connects Shimshal with China, and Baltistan to the south.

The valley served as a penal colony when Hunza was a princely state. The valley is home to the Destaghil Sar peak (7 885 m), Mulungutti Glacier, Adver Sar (6 400 m) and Shimshal Lake, which is especially stunning in autumn.

Trekking can be done for several days in Shimshal. Permission must typically be obtained in advance and prior arrangements are required. You can hike in Shimshal Valley for several days if you work with a tour agency.

Shimshal valley is also home to several hiking trails. A glacier is also located in the valley. Three hours of walking will take you to Yazghil Glacier, the first glacier. There is no need for a guide when trekking to the glacier, and hikers with no experience can do it.

Chapursan Valley

This valley is situated in Gilgit Baltistan’s Hunza District at a height of 3000 meters above sea level, and contains eight scattered villages. It gives you the opportunity to experience the hospitality and culture of the Wakhi people as you pass through the many passes and peaks that the valley has to offer. Autumn provides better weather than May or September.

April/May and October/November are still good times to reach the valley, but be prepared for winter. Autumn in Chapursan lasts from October to November and the valley typically receives its first snowfall in October. Around Mid-October, you can expect to start seeing some amazing fall colors and temperatures of -10 to 5 C.

Misger Valley

There is a particular beauty to the Misgar valley during the autumn season, which attracts many tourists from all over the world. This time of year comes with colder nights and the crisp wind that you are likely to enjoy during the autumn season.

Gilgit-Baltistan’s Misgar Valley is one of the most scenic and geographically significant regions in the country. There is a pass in Misgar that connects Pakistan with China and this is called the Mintika pass. There is also a historic pass located in Misgar leading travelers to Afghanistan and it is called the Kilik Pass.

In Misgar, you can also find the historic “Kalam Darchi Fort”, which was constructed by the British to keep an eye on Russian and Chinese advances. A dilapidated fort needs immediate attention from appropriate authorities.

Boiber Valley

Boiber Valley has natural scenic beauty and abundant Alpine trees: Take a look at some beautiful pictures. As a result of the construction of the link road, locals seldom use it anymore. There are very few people who are willing to use this track due to its high altitude, challenging terrain, and long distance. During autumn, tourists can enjoy the natural beauty of the golden color.

The Boibar valley intersects the Hunza River at Morkhun, 10km south of Sost, where its river descends from Qar*n Koh (7164m). Boibar is historic for its association with the original Wakhi settlement of Gojal and the old trade route from Shimshal, as well as its magnificent old-growth juniper trees. The Wakhan Corridor includes places called Avgarch and Boibar, suggesting the original inhabitants came from Wakhan.

Two days of hiking are included in this tour, as well as one free day to explore the valley. Jamalabad, a small settlement near the Karakoram Highway, will be the starting point for our trek and Boibar Valley will be the destination.

Duiker Hunza Valley

At an elevation of 10,000 feet in Hunza Valley, Duikar is the highest village and it is located at a distance of 11 kilometers from Karimabad. Due to its height, it’s a very interesting place to visit since you’ll get a broader view of high mountain peaks in the distance.

This valley is characterized by its autumn season, where you can visit the different points of interest. With the golden red scenery, you can experience an enjoyable cooling environment in autumn. Here, you can see the most common peaks such as Rakaposhi, Lady Finger, Ultar, Golden Peak, etc.

The first ray of sunshine touching the high peaks at sunrise can be seen here, making it a good place to view sunrises and sunsets. The entire Hunza and Nagar valleys are visible from here as well. The trek here takes 2 hours or you can use the jeep to get there in 25 minutes. In the area behind the Engle Nest Hotel are some rocks that have been eroded in the shape of Engle faces.

Rama Valley

Several lakes and meadows surround Rama Valley. In the Astore village neighborhood lies this mesmerizing valley. There is more to Gilgit Baltistan than this valley. Travelers and adventurers have not yet explored the majority of Rama valley.

The autumn valley show is spectacular in a very engaging way that caught the attention of the viewers. Continue driving for another 20 minutes after passing the Fairy Meadows exit on KKH. You should turn right when you see a sign for Astore and continue for two to three more hours. When you reach Astore, turn left.

Hushe Valley

Within Gilgit-Baltistan, the Hushe Valley stretches near the Shyok River and extends as far as Masherbrum Mountain. Several peaks in the Hushe Valley exceed 6,000 meters and even 8,000 meters, making it one of the highest mountain ranges in Pakistan.

It is also the starting point of many treks, since it is the last village in the valley in the beautiful season of autumn. While the fields in Hushe and Kanday will be golden red, they will be harvested until autumn, a month after our visit.
